I was robbed!

Posted by Janice Russell onAugust16,2010

Don't be too alarmed, my house wasn't robbed. Instead, I find that when I don't say "no" to myself or others, I am robbed of peace and time with friends among other things.

I find the same principle to be true of many clients. Too much stuff creates physical, mental and emotional clutter leading to anxiety, depression, and other challenges. Buying so many items often results in lack of money. As a consequence, people are robbed of having relationships with family and friends. They may be "robbed of a job" because too much clutter at home or in a workspace can impact the ability to work productively. Too much stuff may rob someone of a lifelong dream.

By the way, when I talk about "too much stuff" I'm not just talking about physical items. Tasks, commitments, to-do's, etc. can also be counted as stuff that robs you. In fact, the impact can be the same: lack of time with friends and family. Of course, too much to do also leads to being robbed of sleep, proper nutrition and exercise.

So the question for today is "how can I stopped being robbed?" What is your answer?
