An Eternity, in 30 Seconds
Thirty seconds is a long time. Don’t think so? The average story on the TV news is 30 seconds long. And if the screen suddenly turned to black while you were watching, that 30 seconds would feel like an eternity.
As someone who comes from a news background, organizing time is always on my mind. The to-do lists never stop; how can I get just one more thing accomplished today?
But if you haven’t spent years under news deadline pressure, even finding the time to take out the trash can be difficult – let alone dealing with paperwork, paying the bills and taking your kids to soccer practice.
Think about what tasks you are putting aside. Do you have a list? Is there one that would really only take a few minutes, if you simply focused on it?
A few ideas:
- Pay bills online
- Sweep the kitchen floor
- Skim through an article you’ve been meaning to read
- Make a shopping list
- File those papers on your desk
- Smile at someone you love
What can you do in 30 seconds today?
