Safety and Navigation...the final installment!

How many of us have to run to answer the phone or carry a portable one with us from room to room…only because there is not one conveniently located everywhere? Well, this was the case for my Dad and step mom. I remembered hearing about the rather new “expandable” phone systems and decided it was time to look into them. The very knowledgeable young man at Wal-Mart was adamant that the only one to buy was the Panasonic. I believed him and went home with 2 boxes that each contained a base and an extra phone. (I later learned that Panasonic carries systems that include up to 3 extra handsets in one box, for a total of 4.)

We spent the next several hours learning how to use our new toys. I learned how to program the 2nd system so that it was recognized by the first system, therefore creating just one system with 4 phones. They numbered themselves 1, 2,3 and 4. Not a hard task, the instruction booklet laid it all out.

We then each put a different family member’s phone number into different handsets. Alas, the magic!! You take just one phone, press menu, then #2. It asks you which handset you would like to transfer your phonebook to. You tell it the number (1,2, 3 or 4), hit send and it takes off, all by itself! It lights up and transfers all the info from one phone to another. Presto! It was cheap entertainment for us that evening.

And then there is another great feature. Say that handset #1 is in the kitchen and you remember that handset #4 is in the TV room. You can push the intercom button on handset #1, select #4 when asked, and voilla…you have a walkie talkie!

I was so delighted that I hurried home to NC and bought a set for our home.  I thank Panasonic for a truly great product.
