A Stack of Books, Even Online
I love to read. I’m not sure what it is about the written word, but as a kid, I devoured book after book.
There is a perpetual stack of books by my bedside. Some I will read when I’ve finished the one I’m working on. Others, I might later move back to the bookshelf.
It’s not just there, either. I try to read as much online content as I can about my careers as a writer, Web site manager, social media manager and professional organizer.
There is a lot out there. And when you’re busy, the easy thing to do is to bookmark the article and return to it later. But soon, I have a pile of bookmarks just like the pile of books by my bed.
There is just too much to consume. One method I learned from a friend with electronic reading is to open the online article. If you can’t read it then, leave it in a window until you can. Do this with any post you want. At the end of the day, you will have multiple windows open, and you can take the time to read the ones you want before closing out your computer for the night.
It doesn’t really help with my pile of books, and I don’t plan to get an e-reader anytime soon. But this does help prevent a new stack.
How about you? What are some of the things you love that create messes?
